Zalman Klawski memorial plaque. Cast in patinated bronze. Made in memory of Zalman Klawski, who was born on December 15, 1923 in Wloclawek to an Orthodox Jewish family of shopkeepers.He was imprisoned in Fort Radziwill, the City Stadium, camps in Krzyzowniki and Krzesiny.After the liquidation of the labor camps in Poznan, he was taken to Auschwitz Birkenau and then to KL Warschau. It was then that he made contact with the Polish underground, taking part in the transmission of secret messages. He eventually lived to see liberation as a prisoner in the Dachau camp. After the war, he emigrated to Israel, where in 1948-1949 he participated in the First Israeli-Arab War.
