Dwarves – their history dates back to the 1980s, at which time an anti-communist movement called the Orange Alternative was active in Wroclaw. When the communist authorities issued an order to paint over anti-communist inscriptions that appeared on the walls, orange dwarves appeared on the paint stains in response.

Currently, mainly bronze dwarves are being created, which are in different styles and depict different characters, professions and situations, reflecting the creativity and spirit of the city of Wroclaw.

The author of the dwarf is Marlena Zakrzewska. The artist is very talented and even more hardworking. She can design a dwarf with the likeness of a “boss” who is retiring, a colleague who is having an anniversary or a bride and groom. It all depends on your creative invention.
