The Monument of The Greater Poland Uprising

The monument was designed by the sculptor Wiesław Koronowski. It took three years to build and was unveiled on December 21, 2018, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the uprising. The inscription on the pedestal reads: “Insurgents of Wielkopolska Region of Średzka Glory”.
The monument shows three armed soldiers walking under the wings of an eagle taking flight. The monument was erected on Powstańców Wielkopolskich Square next to the General Secondary School, whose patrons are also the insurgents.
The organizer of the Greater Poland Uprising in Środa Wielkopolska was priest Mieczysław Meissner, the parish priest of the collegiate church in Środa Wielkopolska.
