Few historical information about the city plan are written below.
According to the monument’s card, the walls were built in the mid-fourteenth century. The preserved fragments are today over 600 years old. This is one of our oldest monuments, which testifies to the city’s past and its importance. City fortifications have also left their mark on our present day, i.e. today’s street layout. If you look at the map, you will see the building quarters in the center and streets drawn in the Middle Ages, e.g. The upper one, marking out the former course of the walls. To this day, we can admire the souvenir of the Great Water Gate, which existence reminds of the Chinese House, the bay window on the building is its reduced replica. The turret on the tenement house at ul. Independence 7.
